The restaurant at Calagrana is one of two restored stone buildings dating back to the late 19th century seating an intimate 25/30 people.
 

The décor of the restaurant is warm and simple, some of the original stone has been left uncovered allowing one to see and feel the true features of the once building.

The restaurant has become the key meeting point for our guests, where you can come together and taste the wines and products of the region, or simply to mingle with an aperitif.
The veranda offers views over the swimming pool and the spectacular valley of Niccone an ideal way to spend the long summer evenings.

In the restaurant a typical Umbrian cuisine is offered covering the past hundred years, recreated with a personal touch from chef Alberto uncovering forgotten Umbrian treats, using produce mainly grown on the land either from our 400 sq. meter vegetable garden or the 30 tree strong orchard, all of which spend many glorious hours under the Umbrian summer sun maturing to perfection.

 
Here at Calagrana we are able to offer you the opportunity to take one of our cookery courses. The course will provide you with a good knowledge of Umbrian cuisine and chef Alberto will guide you through all the stages required to create your end meal of which you are welcome to eat accompanied with a choice of wine selected by wine expert Patrick. The price will include the meal too.

The skills you learn will enable you to take home the warm flavours of Umbria giving you the confidence to re-create them in your own kitchen. You will surely enjoy making fresh pasta and will find that using three basic ingredients, elbow grease and a  little time shop bought pasta will be a thing of the past. Be prepared to learn new techniques and have lots of fun, we will promise that you wont find hells kitchen’ here.

One day course €70,00 ; you will base the learnig of several techniques on the preparation of the following menu:  Chicken liver and pancetta bacon salad #  Home made tortelli filled with aubergine # Chicken leg (to be boned) filled with a chicken mousse, and potatoes William.

Two day course €130,00 ( minimum 4 people)

Day one: preparation of antipasti and home made pasta

Day two: preparation of a main dish, desserts and biscotti

Per questo oltre ai nostri famosi corsi di cucina, ci piace organizzare con una certa frequenza varie degustazioni di vini Umbri e Toscani.

The wine tasting can be organized as follow:

-Gourmet evening, where four different wines are matched with four typical dishes.

-Wine tasting in our Enoteca where the wine is accompanied by a variety of local produces.

-Wine tasting on request: tasting of specific wines on request (minimum 8 people).

-Wine cellar visit: a guided visit to an Umbrian or Tuscan wine cellar (minimum 6 people).
